South Shore Country Club

Est.  1928

South Shore was designed and built in the spring of 1928 by U.S. Golf Architects Inc. located in Chicago Il. The course first operated under the title of Surprise Park Golf and Boat Club. At this time it was a private member only facility. Later during the great depression it was closed, turned into farm land, and reopened as a Golf Club in the early 1950's. It was owned an operated by the "Paul" family until purchased in the 1960's by the Logan family of Cedar Lake.

In 1975 the property was purchased by Cecil Hays ( a local Cedar Lake Businessman) and Charles (Chuck) Lo Verde and remains in their families to this day. Their hard work and improvements have made South Shore the great facility it is today.

Their Families have worked very hard to upgrade the Course and provide a great atmosphere for the people of Cedar Lake and surrounding areas. In a time of great real estate development South Shore remains one of the only Golf Clubs to continue here for your enjoyment.
